My latest fun project made from 5" charms that my df Pat Lindgren got for me many years ago and I never opened them until now.  I'm not sure but she may have gotten them 10 yrs. ago or more. This is going to make one or more pretty quilts.  The instructions were on a video from Missouri Star Quilt Co.  I do learn a lot from her tutorials.  Start with a charm pack, match 4 fabrics (2 light, 2 dark) into a 4 patch block.  Next you cut 1"strips from the center on all 4 sides then reassemble into the pretty blocks.

Tomorrow George is having a tooth pulled so I'll be playing nurse, and I'm not very good at it.  I guess it doesn't make him feel better with me telling him to "get over it and get on with it".  LOL  Emily is coming home from NC tomorrow too, I can't wait to hear all about her interview and possible job opportunity with USAir.  She's going to be moving to NC for the summer so she's there when she's called in for more interviews.  Wonderful learning time and I'm glad for her that Dan will be there to help her, if she'll let him.  LOL  Mike and Robin raised a very independent young lay there but we all love her.

I have to pack up my sewing machine and take it to the shop for a good cleaning and whatever else it needs.  It's been working just fine but a little tlc can't hurt.  I really miss the machine but my 40 yr. old Bernina is a wonderful substitute, just no bells and whistles that I've come to depend on.

Well off to start my day, go shopping, take machine in and laundry.  Don't I have an exciting life?

Baby string quilts 2 get er done projects

Just having fun with strings.   love making these.

3 more get er done projects

The 3 ufo's that have been just hanging around for years are now done and ready to adorn a table.  They measure 40 x 40, nice size for little table toppers.  The yellow floral one is on the table in the sun room with the leaf removed.  Just the right size.  These are just a few of my ufos that  I am trying to finish in 2015, my "get er done" year.

Oct. happenings

It's been a month since I last posted.  I have been working with my string blocks.  Made a couple of tops for baby quilts, just finishing the binding on

a girl quilt and ready to start quilting the boy quilt.  I would have been done a week ago if I hadn't screwed up the binding by trying to do it all by machine.  Have removed the messed up binding and attached new binding this morning and will stitch it down by hand.  Sometimes the hard way is still better.  I will post a photo when it's all done and ready to put away until needed.

I am going to go back outside and just enjoy this beautiful day.  A day like this at the end of Oct. is a bonus day IMHO.

George's bp has been elevated the last couple of weeks and I'm thinking it's the cold meat sandwiches we've been eating.  I usually make our lunch from leftover roasts or chicken but decided to just buy some cold cuts.  Too much salt for him.  So today it'll be a salad and rolls.

Two of William's huge pumpkins, weighed in over 600 lbs.  He's aiming for 1000 lbs. for next year.
