Been busy

with this and that.  Haven't posted in a while, not much going on except my house chores.  Yesterday I went to lunch bunch and got all my tops done for my hot pads.  I was going to finish them today but messed up my back schlepping groceries and had to take it easy this afternoon.  I have ended up taking a vicadin and a benedryl, love the warmer weather but they play havoc with my allergies.  Hopefully my back will be better tomorrow and I can finish the hot pads.  After lunch bunch yesterday we took a ride to the Casino in Aurora had a pretty good evening, didn't win one of the 50" TVs but walked out a head of the game so have some seed money for our next trip.

I did finish getting files set up for 2012 and will start our taxes as soon as all the 1099's get here.  I have a couple of quilt projects to get done by the end of the month, shees that's only 4 days away so I had better feel good so I can get er done.  In cleaning out the shelves under the ironing table I found several  packages of paper piecing paper, apparently when I would see it I would buy it.  I have more than enough for the Dear Jane project and then maybe a Carol Doak project.  I can print a lot of patterns from my pp Cd's.  Oh goody another project.

Well my meds are kicking in so I'd better kick back and let it do it's job.

Cold but sunny

day today.  Went out for brunch today had yummy omelette's  I worked on my Dear Jane project this morning and got very frustrated trying to get 4 triangles ready to applique.  Would get 3 sides pressed nice and neat and mess up the 4th side so would have to start all  over.  I forgot how tedious some of these blocks could be.  Tomorrow is another day to start over after I go to our neighborhood coffee at Sandy's house.

Yesterday I took Emily to a birthday party at the Hampton Inn East of St. Charles   We had some time to kill so stopped at Super Target, really like the produce there.  I picked up a few things, she got a cup of chi tea at Starbucks and we went to the hotel.  The kids spent the night, went swimming and from the one photo I saw rode the luggage carts up and down the halls.  Didn't get a call for bail money so I think everything went OK.

Well off to watch "Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader" and no I'm not.

Pretty day

outside today, I just love a fresh snow fall.  Some interesting drifts too, thanks to the wind last night.  Just got a call from Emily, she wants to borrow my car tomorrow to take her driver's test.  Yikes but I said yes.  Now that's scary.

Busy day doing house stuff and when George came in from plowing snow throughout the neighborhood he wanted to go to the Casino in Aurora.  So I didn't get to sew much today.  Tomorrow he's going over to Terry and Lou's to do some dry wall work so maybe I'll get something done tomorrow.  We came home with the same amount we left with so we didn't win but we didn't lose either.  I guess that's a form of winning.  LOL

Well I'm off to read my new Nicholas Sparks book.

SNOW

started early this morning and is still snowing.  I went to my old new Dr. today and we got some things organized and meds ordered from my mail order pharmacy.  I had to leave this Dr. because he wasn't in the net work of the Ins. Co. the county had signed up with.  So I had to change Drs.  now that Dr. has closed her practice so I called Dr. Fahey and I'm back with him.  George goes to him too.  I made it home in all the snow and yuck without anything happening to  me or the car.

Spent the afternoon printing out my Dear Jane pp patterns on foundation paper, printing out templates on freezer paper and printing out the rotary cutting instructions for some of the blocks.  Tomorrow pick the fabric and start sewing.  I posted a picture of the organized binders, will post a photo here tomorrow.  Can't access my photos album from this computer.  I felt like I had really accomplished a lot today.  I was tempted to go in the sewing room after dinner and start a block but you don't want to work on these little blocks when you are tired so will wait until tomorrow.

It was so nice to sit at my cutting table getting things printed and organized while watching the snow falling and blowing outside.  No little snow birds standing on the window sill watching me today.

Productive day

today, I got my 2 big Dear Jane 3 ring binders out and things organized to start printing templates, paper for paper piecing and rotary cutting measurements.  Most of these little 4.5" blocks turn out best when paper pieced.  I'll post a photo of some of the blocks one of these days.  They aer very intricate but once you get started they are addictive.

I'm going to lunch bunch tomorrow, going to take my big bag of fabric for the Quilts of Valor group to use and my Orange Peel top to work on.  George is doing the school route run tomorrow, taking Emily to the high school at 7 am, come back and pick Kate and William up and deliver them to St. Peters by 8 am.  First he has to make sure they have books, lunch and Kate has her glasses.  Then at noon pick Emily and her friend up and take her to Grandma Kula's so the girls can work on a poster project for school.

Well I'm off to read my new Nicholas Sparks book "The Last Song", I got it yesterday for $6.99 plus got my 15% discount at Barnes and Nobel.

Well it is cleaned up and ready to start producing again.  I had 5 big rolling bins of fabric and am now down to 3.  Going to take a BIG bag of fabric for use by the Quilts of Valor group at Prairie Quilts.  Now I just have to decide what I am going to work on next.  Today I am going to get my Dear Jane out and get it organized so I can start working on it.  Going to make 1 block a day then work on something not so ;intricate.  Need to do it this way to keep my sanity.

A lot done today

but it doesn't look like I got a darn thing done.  I sorted through all my big bins of fabric and have a huge bag ready to take to Bonita at Prairie Quilts for the Quilts of Valor group.  There's enough fabric in the bag for 5 or 6 bed size quilts.    I really want to get my Dear Jane out again and start making some more of those pretty little blocks.  Well I have cut down from 5 big bins with wheels down to 3 and on large tote bag with scraps to be cut into sqs.

We got a little excited for Kathleen, a couple was very interested in renting the townhouse and were going to meet with her and the realtor at 5 o'clock to sign the lease.  They called about 4 pm and told the realtor that they found another townhouse in the same subdivision for $100 less a month.  Darn it she's not asking that much, just enough to cover the assoc. dues and taxes.  Darn it, thought things were going to lighten up for her a bit.

I am tired tonight so I'm going to hang it up for now, watch some bad tv and go to bed early tonight.

My bad

my no buy resolution for 2012 lasted 4 days.  Today was having fun at lunch bunch when Fred the fabric fairy from ups dropped off a BIG package which turned out to be the most beautiful red, beige, red/white, etc fabric.  Well Bonita opened up the box and set the fabric out to inventory and price, she didn't work fast enough for the lunch bunch so we helped (when she wasn't looking).  There was a really very pretty panel fabric that had the appearance of red work figures, we glamed on to it, running (well moving faster than we normally do) to the front advising Bonita that we wanted some of this NOW.  God Bless her she compiled.  I did only buy one panel but the other gals were buying 2 or 3 panels, so I wasn't all bad.  I'm also going to break the other resolution, you know the one about no new projects until some UFOs are done, ya that one.  I'm going to start putting borders on the panel tomorrow.  I really tried to behave, back to the drawing board.

Monday 2012

Well I have to keep using 2012 to see if I can remember it when I write a check.  I worked in the sewing room for most of the day and got things put away.  I now have some room to work in there.  Going to finish a couple of hot pads and towels that have turned into Valentines' presents instead of Christmas.  I got out several flimsies that I intend to get quilted, bound and call them finished.  I filed paperwork and got that part of the computer desk cleaned up and paid bills.  Ugh!!!

Had a nice visit with my neighbor Gail who broke her foot about the same time I broke mine.  Mine healed in about 8 weeks, in the boot and hers didn't.  She's still in a wheel chair, hope it's mended now and she can be up and about.  Talked with Carolyn and she had a quiet weekend like we did, I sent her a little of the dip and some of the cubed bread for her New Years Eve treat.  She liked it as did my grand kids and Mike and Robin.  It was simple to make and very tasty.

Well Oregon beat Wisconsin.  Unusual finish to the game though.
